Duration:
11.30 hs.

Difficulty:
medium

Departures:
From October 1 to May 30

The excursion begins with passenger pick-up in El Calafate, using a regular service with a bilingual Spanish-English guide who provides information about the route, the natural environment, and the excursion in general. The transfer is to Los Glaciares National Park, to the South Glacier Pier, located on the South Arm of Lake Argentino.

From there, the boat journey begins along the entire South Arm of Lake Argentino, gradually venturing into the Andes Mountains. Upon disembarking, the first trek (approximately 2 km) begins, crossing a lenga forest, with an initial climb to a natural viewpoint overlooking Lake Frías, before descending to its shore. The crossing of Lake Frías is made in an open semi-rigid inflatable boat, lasting approximately 10 to 15 minutes. From the opposite shore, the second trek begins (approximately 4.5 km), traversing forest, glacial valley, and moraines until reaching Laguna Frías Superior. The route culminates in a natural amphitheater formed by the Grande, Cubo, and Dickson glaciers, remnants of the ancient Frías Glacier. This is a pristine, expansive, and unique environment. There, you will have free time to admire the scenery and enjoy a picnic lunch facing the glaciers, weather permitting; otherwise, lunch will be served in the dome-shaped refuge near Lago Frías.
After the trek, the return journey follows the same route, arriving back in El Calafate at sunset.
