How was Comarka born?
Comarka means the union of peoples and began as Comarka Rafting in the town of Corcovado, Chubut. Comarka was created by German “Loli” Roberts, born and raised in Esquel, Chubut province – Patagonia, who since 1990 has dedicated himself to athletics competitions, adventure races and tetrathlons of multiple disciplines (skiing, running, mountain biking and kayaking). Hence his love and commitment to sport and his unbreakable bond with nature and especially with the Patagonian rivers and lakes. Since 1997, Loli worked as a rafting guide for various companies in northern Patagonia, until Comarka Rafting was founded in 2000 with the aim of showcasing, exploring, and discovering Patagonia from the water. After spending time with his partner, Florencia Cura, a graduate in Tourism and Tour Guide, with more than 20 years of experience in the field and a fan of adventure sports, sharing the same love and respect for nature, they decided to complement each other and combine their knowledge to expand Comarka Rafting to El Chalten. Shortly after, Comarka Expediciones EVT was born with the aim of continuing to offer water experiences as well as other types of adventure experiences in Patagonia. At Comarka Rafting, in addition to Loli, who is still guiding, the team includes her sons, Tomás, Mateo and Simón Roberts, all kayak and rafting guides, as well as our trip leader in Corcovado, Gabriel Rosas, who has more than 15 years of experience as a rafting guide.
