Make the most of every minute of your visit to El Chaltén by exploring and sailing in the northern part of Los Glaciares National Park, the Lago del Desierto Provincial Reserve, and the area of the Gran Glaciar Vespignani, with a variety of trekking options. You’ll also have time to hike the coastal trails of Punta Sur and see the Huemul Glacier.
We depart from our meeting point in El Chaltén, traveling the 37 km to Lago del Desierto along a beautiful gravel road, following the Río de las Vueltas.
During the journey, we’ll share important information about the area and make stops at scenic viewpoints. Then, from the Punta Sur Pier, we’ll sail for about 30 minutes, catching glimpses of the Huemul and Crestón Glaciers, before disembarking at the Gran Glaciar Vespignani, located in the central part of the lake. Once there, under the supervision of an activity leader for your safety, you’ll have 3 hours to choose from exploring all or some of the three trails offered for this tour. These trails are perfectly marked in the area, allowing you to choose the level of difficulty and effort you prefer.
After a farewell hot chocolate, we’ll board the boat back to the Punta Sur Pier. Once there, you’ll have free time to explore the self-guided trails in the area, with views of the Huemul Glacier. You can also hike to the base of Laguna Huemul (approximate time: 2 hours. Additional cost). At the scheduled time, the bus will take you back to El Chaltén, where your adventure ends.
